Francy Caprino is the former Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management at Pratt Institute’s northern campus of PrattMWP. Her responsibilities were to evaluate applications to decide which students were accepted or rejected, and offer scholarships. She was also the Assistant Director of Graduate and International Admissions at Pratt in Brooklyn, during which time she taught Portfolio Development and Painting.
Francy holds a Master’s Degree in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute. She also served as the Assistant Director of Admissions at the San Francisco Art Institute while teaching the Portfolio Development class there.
She teaches both the Portfolio & Scholarships Development Class and the Elements of Design Class. She provides invaluable instruction and knowledge to our students. Francy gives students insight into the art world, which will prepare them for their college admission and future professional development.
Most Art / Design majors require the submission of an art portfolio as part of the application process. We consider the following when working with students who pursue the Art Major Track:
From there, we assist each student in creating a college art portfolio to help them get into the best art schools.
Colleges are looking for well-rounded students. An art portfolio is a perfect way for a non-art major to showcase their creative side to admissions officers.
Our team of experts will help each student create an art portfolio which highlights their art styles, personality and the college majors they are pursuing. Like the art major track, we take into consideration what colleges the student is interested in and application deadlines.
Our Admissions Director Francy Caprino works with students every week to guide them through the college admission process and teaches them valuable skills to help students succeed in college level courses. Due to Francy's guidance, many students decide to continue this class, even after they have finished their college applications.
We also have a professional team dedicated to supporting students with their art portfolio preparation. They are knowledgeable about the college admissions process and assist students with navigating college applications.
Our dedicated team meets regularly with students to guide them through the college admissions process from start to finish.
This is a specialty class created for 11th and 12th graders who are interested in majoring in Art or Design. This class is a MUST HAVE for students who aspire to become an art or design major.
In this class, students will get advice and guidance on the finalization of their portfolios. Instructors will guide them through the art college admission process for the schools of their choice.
Our portfolio development classes are small (usually no more than 10 students). This allows students to get to support, constructive criticism, and inspiration from each other.
Students in our college art portfolio program can take supplemental classes to strengthen their artistic skills, increasing their competitiveness for college admissions. Students have the option of taking multiple classes a week. Students who enroll in our program do not follow a set curriculum. Each student has the freedom to focus on projects that will refine their college art portfolio.
Elements of Design is for students in 10th - 12th grade. This hands-on class uses skill-based lessons to provide students with the knowledge of design principles, including color theory, techniques, and composition. Students are assigned different projects, which allow them to understand what designers do.
Our summer programs and workshops have been developed specifically to enhance areas that admissions officers want to see in students’ art portfolios. The classes offer a highly educational experience, allowing students to showcase their skills and knowledge through art in their portfolios.
Students have the opportunity to draw a variety of professional art models. This is a skill that is highly desired by the portfolio reviewers in art and design schools.
Our instructors take students to different locations where they can explore and sketch a variety of different atmospheres and environments.
This class will teach students how to paint on canvases no smaller than 3ft by 4ft. This skill is not often taught in high school. Many students usually do not learn this art technique until college. This class will help students stand out during art portfolio reviews.
