With her background as a former Director of Admissions, Francy Caprino helps students through the college application process. Francy understands what admissions officers expect from students applying to Art and Design schools, from polished essays to unique college art portfolios. She also shares her expertise on the art world and offers professional development advice.
Our students love taking Francy’s Elements of Design and Portfolio Development & Scholarship classes because they learn so much from her invaluable experience and knowledge. Students who have taken this class have received millions of dollars in scholarships.
Ultimately, this class is about more than just the admissions process; it is also about setting up our students for success after they graduate from college.
Going to college is a big life decision, one which can be exciting and anxiety-inducing. It can be hard to know where to start. But, with proper planning and coordination, the college application process can go smoothly. Our team is with each student on every step of their college application journey — from the big wins to last-minute deadline struggles.
We meet with our students and their parents to create an individualized plan, whether they are pursuing an ART / DESIGN or STEM major. Our team executes each plan with the utmost care, even helping with things that pop up unexpectedly, like staying up until midnight to get help with an essay, or driving between locations to get artwork professionally photographed in time.
We treat our students and parents like family, always. It’s rewarding for us to see our students get into their top choice colleges because they work so hard. Every year, we have students come back to visit us, and we love to hear how they are doing.
Admissions officers are not interested in art portfolios that all look the same or show that everyone in the class did identical projects. That is why we create personalized art portfolio plans for our students. We know that no two of our students are alike. Each student has a distinct vision of what they want out of their college experience and desired career path. We focus on understanding what students are passionate about and coach them on how to curate art portfolios that reflect their personalities and goals.
Most Art / Design majors require the submission of an art portfolio as part of the application process. We consider the following when working with students who pursue the Art / Design Major Track
Colleges are looking for well-rounded students. An art portfolio is a perfect way for a non-art major to showcase their side to admissions officers. College admissions officers are always looking for students who pursue their passions outside of their academic studies.
Our team guides each student in creating a college portfolio that highlights their art styles, personality and the college majors they are pursuing. Like the art major track, we take into consideration what colleges the student is interested in and application deadlines.
We understand it is hard to keep up with your child’s schedules between school and extracurricular activities. We work with our Portfolio Program students to set up flexible schedules, making it easier for them to manage their art projects alongside other commitments.
We designed premium classes with curriculums specifically tailored for students in our Portfolio Program. These classes include Elements of Design and Portfolio & Scholarship Development.
We provide students with lots of opportunities to participate in contests and exhibitions. Every year, we have hundreds of global, national, and regional contest winners, and many are given opportunities to have their artwork displayed in exhibitions. Our teachers are very knowledgeable about contests, and we provide students with information on how to prepare for contests. We connect our students with art curators who love to give them the opportunity to have their art displayed in local galleries.
Our summer programs and workshops have been developed specifically to enhance areas that admissions officers want to see in students’ art portfolios. The classes offer a highly educational experience, allowing students to showcase their skills and knowledge through art in their portfolios.
Students have the opportunity to draw a variety of professional art models. This is a skill that is highly desired by the portfolio reviewers in art and design schools.
Our instructors take students to different locations where they can explore and sketch a variety of different atmospheres and environments.
This class will teach students how to paint on canvases no smaller than 3ft by 4ft. This skill is not often taught in high school. Many students usually do not learn this art technique until college. This class will help students stand out during art portfolio reviews.
